Hike to the Conchi
Natural Pool

Conchi Natural Pool

The Conchi Natural Pool is a rock formation on Aruba’s rugged eastern coast where crashing waves fill a natural pool with water.  The pool is calm and safe for swimming.

The pool is inside the Arikok National Park and can be accessed through the park with a tour company or on your own if you have a jeep. If you don’t have a jeep or don’t want to take a tour, it’s possible to drive to a spot outside the park and hike in. The hike will let you get a taste of the beautiful geography of the eastern coast of Aruba that many tourists never see.

Rock East Coast Aruba

Note that since the pool is inside the national park, you will need to purchase a day pass (USD 11 for adults, free for children under 18) at the visitor’s centre even if you plan on hiking in. The park is open daily from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Getting There

From the park visitor centre, drive to the road that leads to the Daimari Ranch. This ranch is abandoned and the road is not well maintained. A regular car will not make it all the way to the parking lot but it’s easy to park on the side of the road before the road gets too rough.  There is a house behind that ranch that is rented out and so it is possible that the road will be fixed in the future.

Daimari Road Parking

From your parking spot, hike down past the ranch, enter the park and follow the trail all the way to the pool.  There is a good chance that you won’t see anyone until you get close to the pool but the trail is pretty easy to follow.  It takes about 40 minutes to get from the ranch to the pool.

It’s usually quite breezy on this side of the island but it can still get very hot. Bring water. The terrain is varied: gravel, rocks, and sand. Closed-toed shoes are recommended but many people do it in sandals.
